You Are the Beauty You Are Looking At
Happy summer Sunday, Rosies.
We've been out in the woods, finding feathers and collecting stones, ogling mosses and mushrooms, bouldering, wading in the river. Biking around, working up a sweat. Going to the shore, watching the light show. It's such a beautiful world, isn't it?
One of our boys is in the west, fighting wildfires from the sky, as smoke from Canada drops down into the American Northeast. We are so interconnected. Water, air, fish, birds...they don't know nation-state boundaries. They know ecosystems. They know watersheds. They know how to occupy spaces in balance, in harmony.
Wouldn't that be a welcome world: people with safe nests, abundant nourishment, traveling to each other's homes across the seasons, in sacred reciprocity. No fear of the stranger.
You are also this harmonic nature, in case you forget. If you look at a bird or a tree or a flower and see the beauty, this beauty is no different from what you are. You are the beauty.
We are not separate, cannot be separate, from Nature, which sustains us in a vast interdependence with everything. The body is nature expressing itself. The wisdom is in participation, and in recognition, of this wonder.
Let us remember who we are, fragments of the one light.
All love, all the time.
