One H.E.A.R.T. (Health Education and Research in Tibet), is a non-profit organization working with the local community to understand the plight of pregnant women and newborns. They set out to understand the local traditions, and religious and cultural beliefs of women giving birth in Tibet and developed a culturally sensitive, comprehensive and collaborative model to reduce the risk of maternal and infant mortality. Their mission is to train local health providers, community members, families, and mothers in safe birthing practices and to provide them with a safe and clean place to give birth.
The mission of La Casa de las Madres is to respond to calls for help from domestic violence victims, of all ages, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. We give survivors the tools to transform their lives. We seek to prevent future violence by educating the community and by redefining public perceptions about domestic violence.
