Quotes from the Conversation:

On deciding to learn to dance

Essentially, my kids were getting to be teenagers and I was experiencing having been 5, 10, 15 years as a homeschooling parent, which was very involved and done attachment parenting. Very involved with my kids' lives, and I didn't wanna be that mother who was holding onto them, and I could feel that in myself.

On preparing her joints in her body

What I learned from that is, well, first of all, I'll never be a dancer. Like the people that start when they're young, I'll never be that, and that's fine.  I think the thing that I learned from it was that you start where you are and the love of the thing matters more than. Where you're at in terms of a skill level or what your body's like. It's the love of the thing. And I was so in love with it, and I was so passionate about it that I spent so many nights when I couldn't be at the dance studio going over my routines in my head.

On building the muscle of recognizing and following her desires

Wow, that has become the center point for me in my life, and maybe it started there. What else is there? Like those are the things that we get fooled into, but those things don't take. They don't take us to the place that we wanna be. And I, and there is something about the freedom of, for me, I experience at this stage of my life where I feel freedom from those things.

On the Erotic Priestess Idea

So for me, the erotic high priestess is the part, the archetype, the part of me that knows there's something deeper than this image of what sexual looks like in a woman's body that our culture feeds to us.
