Do you know the expression “as within, so without”? It basically says that what we have inside of ourselves impacts how we see the world. If we have fear, we project danger. If we have shame, we project judgment. If we have damaged relationships to authority, we see victimizers everywhere. The world lives inside of us.
That's not to say there aren't objective harms done and wrongs to right. We are obliged to work for more justice. And even that impulse comes from a change inside of ourselves.
Here’s what I know: Many of us long to see humanity live from an awareness of our fundamental unity, shared habitat, and shared destiny on Spaceship Earth. We want peace to win the day.
For my part, I don’t have to wait for the world to change. Right now, today, I can choose inclusion and unity. I can start right now by living peace, activating for peace. This is a zone of personal power where, as the expression goes, one can truly “be the change you wish to see in the world.”
You know by now that I believe any message that provokes shame, fear, and division is untrue. Love comes first. It feels so much better to be expanded than contracted. It is so much more joyful. It’s worth the time, precision, and care to unravel the places where we habitually harden.
Include it all, have compassion for it all, choose love, stay open. We can be the change.
